Five 2025 HSR Classic Endurance Championship presented by Mission Foods Title Winners Return as HSR Launches its Second Classic Endurance Season Today at The Glen
WATKINS GLEN, New York (June 13, 2026) – Historic Sportscar Racing opens its 2026 HSR Classic Endurance Championship season today with the fourth-annual HSR Watkins Glen Classic 6 Hour presented by Mission Foods, which is underway at Watkins Glen International.
Watkins Glen International serves as the first leg of the HSR Classic Endurance Championship presented by Mission Foods season, highlighted by events such as the Classic Road Atlanta 10 Hour, September 17 – 20, the Classic Daytona 24 Hour, November 11 – 15 and the season-ending Classic Sebring 12 Hour, December 2 – 6, all presented by Mission Foods and inspired by some of North America’s most recognizable endurance racing events.
Entering the weekend, several podium finishers from last year’s event return, along with five of the seven 2025 HSR Classic Endurance Championship title winners. Today’s season-opening race runs for a symbolic six hours with the final checkered flag of the event scheduled to drop early this evening at 6:42 p.m. EDT.
Of the five returning HSR Classic Endurance Championship title winners, four compete in Group A. David Agretelis returns after earning a Class A victory in last year’s event. The 2025 Vintage GT Champion will pilot the 901 Shop-prepared No. 66 1967 Porsche 911 S/T.
Joining Agretelis among the returning champions are Historic Prototype/Sports Racer title winners Mitch Eitel and Mark Hamilton Peters in the No. 49 1970 Chevron B16, Vintage Prototype/Sports Racer co-champion Travis Engen in his 2025 championship-winning GMT Racing No. 1 1962 Lotus 23B and Historic GT Champion Todd Treffert, this time wheeling his 901 Shop-prepared 1972 Porsche 911 S/T.

Also entered in Group A is Johannes van Overbeek, overall winner of the 2016 Rolex 24 At Daytona and a third-place finisher in the 2005 24 Hours of Le Mans. Van Overbeek will team with Craig Watkins in his No. 46 1968 Porsche 911 S/T while also pulling double duty during the weekend in Group C, where he will share the No. 73 2016 Porsche 991 RSR 4.0 with Michael Potapow.
Group B features eight Historic GT and Prototype entries. Among the competitors entered is Gary Gould, who will campaign the No. 4 1981 Frisbee GB-2. The class also includes several HSR regulars, including Ramsey Potts in the No. 58 1987 Porsche 944, Ricky Park in the No. 44 1973 Porsche 911 RSR and Colin Dougherty in the Das Sport No. 35 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo Cup
Modern GT cars take center stage in Run Group C following the historic and vintage Group A and B competitors. The category features a blend of contemporary GT machinery, including Porsche GT3 R, RSR, and GT3 Cup entries spanning multiple generations, alongside Mercedes-AMG GT3 and GT4 machinery, BMW M4 GT4 and M2 CS models, and Porsche Cayman GT4 competitors.
Several family connections are present throughout the Group C field, and the family theme continues into Group D, the all-modern prototype division, where several family pairings are among the entries. New York natives Nigel Saurino and Hans Saurino Jr. will share the No. 57 2021 Ligier JS P320, while Wally Owens and Kevin Owens co-drive the No. 09 2014 Coyote Corvette Daytona Prototype. The DP is a former machine from the Spirit of Daytona Racing/Visit Florida Racing stable, which won the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen in back-to-back seasons in 2014 and 2015.

Two of the top three finishers from last year’s Classic 6 Hour return to Group D competition. Pierce Marshall and longtime IMSA veteran Eric Foss reunite in the Matador Motorsports No. 02 Cadillac Dallara DPi after finishing second in last year’s Classic 6 Hour and winning the Modern Prototype/Sports Racer class championship.
Another Cadillac Dallara DPi entered in Group D is the Mission Foods/GMT Racing No. 81 of Mission Foods CEO Juan Gonzalez and two-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Butch Leitzinger. The duo finished third in Group D a year ago at Watkins Glen and is joined this weekend by Gonzalez’s nephew, Roberto Gonzalez, who has previously competed alongside the pair in HSR endurance events, including last November’s Classic 24.
