HSR Unveils Logo for 50th Golden Anniversary Season Celebration

Logo Unveiled on Opening Day of Official Competition at the HSR The Mitty Presented by Hagerty

BRASELTON, Georgia (April 24, 2026) – Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) unveiled its official 50th Anniversary logo today at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta (MRRA) in preparation for the organization’s Golden Anniversary in 2027.

The logo prominently features a bold, black No. 50, symbolizing the milestone anniversary, with the HSR logo positioned beneath. Incorporated within the zero is a depiction of a 1960’s era period-correct sports car set against a rising sun, capturing both HSR’s rich heritage and its forward-looking future.

“As we celebrate 50 years with this Golden Anniversary logo, it’s a reminder of how far HSR has come,” said IMSA President John Doonan. “From its early milestones, supported by leaders like one of my predecessors David Hinton, to a partnership that ultimately led to IMSA becoming part of HSR’s story in 2022, this logo reflects that journey and the strong momentum we carry into the future.”

HSR was founded in 1977, debuting with its inaugural event, the Walter Mitty Challenge at Road Atlanta, which has evolved into the HSR The Mitty presented by Hagerty. Appropriately enough, the unveiling took place Friday at MRRA on the opening day of the 48th running of the HSR The Mitty presented by Hagerty.

In the past nearly 50 years, HSR has grown into the premier platform for vintage and historic competition at world-renowned venues such as MRRA, Daytona International Speedway, Sebring International Raceway, Watkins Glen International and more.

“The unveiling of the 50th Anniversary logo truly signifies the legacy of HSR and future of the organization,” said Hinton, the former HSR President and Co-Owner and Current Board member. “Next year will be exciting when we celebrate the history of the series through its iconic events, cars and partners that have been instrumental to HSR’s success since its founding.”

Following its acquisition by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) in 2022, HSR has entered a new era of growth, establishing an unprecedented level of key partnerships and introducing new classes and racing series aimed at strengthening the series’ future and attracting a broader audience.
