Third Annual HSR Watkins Glen Classic 6 Hour presented by Mission Foods This Weekend, June 11 – 14, at Watkins Glen International
WAKINS GLEN, New York (June 11, 2025) – A top field of Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) competitors and cars has arrived at Watkins Glen International for the second round of the inaugural HSR Classic Endurance Championship presented by Mission Foods season this weekend, June 11 – 14.
The third annual HSR Watkins Glen Classic 6 Hour presented by Mission Foods, which got underway today with unofficial testing, sets the stage for the annual Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen IMSA race on the upstate New York circuit next weekend.
The first major endurance race championship in the U.S. for vintage and historic sports cars, the HSR Classic Endurance Championship presented by Mission Foods features a year-long schedule of four “tribute events” celebrating the biggest and longest-running sports car endurance races in the United States.
Following March’s season-opening Sebring Classic 12 Hour presented by Mission Foods, the next order of business is this weekend’s Watkins Glen Classic 6 Hour. The feature event of a packed schedule of on-track HSR competition, the Watkins Glen Classic begins with a symbolic six-straight hours of racing Friday afternoon and into the night as each Run Group contests its first two segments. One final round for each Run Group Saturday afternoon will determine this year’s HSR Classic 6 Hour winners.
Three entries return to The Glen looking for repeat Classic 6 Hour victories, including the team of David Porter and 2015 24 Le Mans 24 Hour LMP2 class winner Richard Bradley. Porter and Bradley shook off the challenges of some similar-era Chevrons for a Run Group victory last year at the Glen in Porter’s unique 1975 No. 205 Toj SC205.
Porter also has a string of Mission Foods HSR Classics victories at Daytona and Sebring in LMP1 machinery on his resume but now looks to the Toj to start his next streak of HSR endurance race wins. Porter is one of the few drivers victorious in each of the Mission Foods HSR Classics at Daytona, Sebring and The Glen.
Todd Sloan drove his 2007 No. 60 Riley XX Daytona Prototype to a Classic 6 Hour overall Run Group victory in 2023’s inaugural race and looks for a second victory this weekend. Sloan competes in the same ex-Michael Shank Racing Riley that carried him to victory two years ago when he led a one-two Riley finish as David Huber and Chip Vance scored runner-up honors in a 2004 No. 10 Riley XI Daytona Prototype. Sloan also scored his first HSR Daytona Classic 24 Hour presented by Mission Foods race win last December at the World Center of Racing in his No. 60 Riley.
The final entry looking for repeat glory at The Glen is actually racing for a “double-double” triumph this weekend. Pierce Marshall and Eric Foss co-drove the Matador Motorsports 2017 No. 02 Cadillac DPi to the Run Group C victory at Watkins Glen last year. They also won in Run Group C this year at Sebring’s season-opening race, so a victory this weekend would give them back-to-back wins on the season and repeat triumphs in the Classic 6.
Last year at The Glen Marshall and Foss prevailed in a race-long battle with the similar 2017 Mission Foods No. 81 Cadillac DPi co-driven by longtime HSR competitor Juan Gonzalez and three-time Rolex 24 At Daytona race winner Butch Leitzinger. The No. 81 is back this weekend for a battle renewed with the No. 02, with several other potent LMP1 and DPi challengers stepping up to challenge for the win.
Other 2025 Sebring Classic 12 winners Todd Treffert and David Agretelis join Marshall and Foss in trying to stay perfect on the season this weekend. Treffert has been victorious in just about every class and series he has contested in HSR’s season-long sprint and endurance championships, but finally won after trying for a decade an HSR Classic race at Sebring in March in his 1975 No. 41 Porsche 911 Carrera Cup RSR “Baby” Turbo prepared by the 901 Shop.
Similarly, Agretelis had been trying to win an HSR Classic race for eight years. He won the second Run Group A round at Sebring to take a lead he would hold to the finish in his 901 Shop 1972 No. 166 Porsche 911 S/T.
A four-day event from today through Saturday, June 14, the HSR Classic 6 Hour weekend also features a full slate of HSR WeatherTech Sprint, B.R.M Endurance Challenge and the Sasco Sports International American Challenge presented by Hoosier and HSR Global GT races that are all part of the season-long 2025 HSR championships.
Thursday evening’s highlight is HSR Prototype Challenge Presented by Michelin 90-minute race into twilight.
